Comfrey leaves are often added to compost, and I know many herbalists place spent herb around the base of plants as a 'mulch'. My husband grows it to help compost his apple orchard. I like mugwort but have never grown it, so I am afraid I'm no help there - but I agree, plants act differently in pots.

I've also just started using arnica oil on my own arthritis, and I recommend it.

Warm milk with honey is one of my favourites, Lady A! With maybe a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.

Oh - and I had thought of adding a little cayenne - can't remember where, but I have run across suggestions that the heat of cayenne can help, sort of the way a heating pad does I guess. But of course I wouldn't add too much! Has anybody tried cayenne in topical preparations?
