Re: Did I make a mistake with my fire cider/ garlic extract?
I have done that before, and generally my experience is that it's fine. Adding honey ahead of time is "more stuff in the cider" so perhaps -may- imact how much is infused from the other spicy hot things. Mostly the honey is added at the end from what I understand, to let the Cider infuse f...

Re: Sarsaparilla
I'm not too familiar with Sarsaparilla, except in pre-made sodas from my younger days, sorry. I would imagine there's "more than zero" value in interchanging the two types, but that's just my gut-reaction rather than any scholarly knowledge.

Re: night terrors
Not sure how old your son is, but if it is becoming an issue, I personally have always said that sometimes a "Mental Health Day" is worth far FAR more than a single day in school, especially if you work to ensure you get the days homework, and no tests and such. We were almost going to hom...

Re: Drying herbs
For storage, I'd second the dark glass jars method. I've also used some stoneware lidded "Butter crocks" for smaller amounts of cooking herbs like basil/thyme/etc. Usually, big batches I just use the larger 2-quart jars, or glass "cookie jars", stored inside the cabinet out of th...

Re: What Herbs
Hmm, it almsot depends on what your use of herbs will be for, I would imagine. (edit: it's early and I missed the "nourishing" word in your original post, so, my first recommendations are probably the best. :) ) If you want nourishing infusions for your own health to drink, Nettle and Oats...

Re: Medicine Bags
Thanks Lady alinor for that comment. I never realized you could also have "Medicine Bowls", but I definitely have a few small containers that hld the same sorts of things that a traditional Bag would carry, and never made the connection. Mostly pottery, but I have one large shell as well. ...

Re: Please Introduce yourselves
Nate here, not-quite-wise man, who has taken a few of Susun's courses and been following the Wise Toman Tradition and practicing my herbalism for quite a few years now. I used to lurk a good bit on the forums, (had been "shipper of Comfrey far & wide" to others from this fourm  ),...

Re: Wart removal
I had a tiny wort on my thumb for just over a year, until I discovered after a move that I had a crop of "Greater Celandine" (Chelidonium majus) growing in the 'weed patch' out back. Daily application of the sap on my way to work, and re-application as I returned home, cleared teh pesky th...
