I've finally gotten the bone broth GEL thing down to a ratio. for anyone who still has a learning curve ahead of them and wants to give this a try- !
to get GEL, dependably, after broth has cooled:
- for chicken bones, 1 oz bones : 2 oz water
(I have been using feet & necks. cooking time, 24-27 hrs (LOW setting, crockpot))
- for beef bones, 1 oz bones : 1.15 oz water
(.. neck or knuckle bones. 36-39 hrs (same LOW setting))
also, I ordered dried nettle, oatstraw and horsetail from PACIFIC BOTANICALS [ http://www.pacificbotanicals.com/
] they are not a small, family-owned business (that I know of) and may not be the best source (I am still a beginner..) but their prices are terrific (I am paying for a pound
of nettle, for ex, what my local (only!) NYC store charges for an ounce--) and they were friendly and professional on the phone.

]. they may look silly.. but! I highly recommend them for ANYONE with toes
whether you have injured, problem or healthy toes ! if you are not particular about color.. (I was not), then they go on 50% sale, from time to time (I bought mine for $19.99 during their Labor Day special)
between my p.t. sessions, my home practicing of same, my daily bone broth cup (I just drink 8oz a day, like tea), and my beginning forays into infusions.. I dunno if I'm healed, but I am DEFINITELY not getting worse, any more ! yay-
thank you, Kate, for your suggestion about oatstraw and horsetail: I'll have enough horsetail to last a lifetime, apparently
but am taking your suggestion and adding a pinch of it to each quart of oatstraw infusion I make..
last thing I want to explore: Solomon's Seal.
I have not (yet) been able to find a source for fresh root- only tiny amounts of dried.
I have found online sources for the tincture, as well.
does anyone know which form of the herb, tincture OR infusion, is best for my desired result ? i.e. for my tendons/musculo-skeletal health.. ?
