I'm coming to the end of American Gods, by Neil Gaiman. Wow, I am now a fan. I mean, I loved seeing Coraline with my kids when it came out, but I never realized how amazing his fantasy for adults was! So cool.

I picked up The Mists of Avalon at a library sale last summer. I finally started reading it yesterday, and wow! It is breathtaking!

Reading Monica Furlong's excellent trilogy (Wise Child, Juniper, and Colman), and also Frank MacEowen's The Spiral of Memory and Belonging.

cat of the moonlit wood - one of my high school friends suggested monica furlong's series to me, and i read through them with a quickness! oh, they were delicious =)

i LOVED mists of avalon when i first read it. what a good one.

and someone posted way back about "the body never lies" and i've heard that one recommended by dr. christiane northrup, an awesome author who wrote "women's health, women's wisdom" - i really want to look that one up.

That's just what I have to hold me over until I get my Anya Seton holds from the library. Finally read one over her books that was on my shelf and now I'm a fanatic.

She wrote well researched historical fiction with interesting female figures.
Here are some of the books of hers that I have read and liked. I starred my faves:

*Katherine.. in the top 100 of popular fiction of all time in the UK:

I'm reading "in the shadow of 13 moons" by Kimberly Sherman-Cook. It's about embracing Lunar energy for self-healing and transformation. I'm finding it very helpful as I journey through menopause.

cory su, katherine was one of my absolute favorites. another great historical fiction that one of my closest woman friends suggested many years ago was 'lion of ireland', with similarly awesome woman characters.

i just finished 'my ishmael' and 'the story of b' by daneil quinn, and also 'dropped threads vol 2' edited by carol shields and marjorie anderson.

dropped threads (vol 2) is up for swap if anyone wants it! i don't even necessarily need anything in exchange, i'd just like to pass it forward.

i just read "Eat, Pray, Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert. i really enjoyed it. it is about a woman who takes a year out from her highpowered and dis-satisfied life to find herself. she spends four months each in Italy, India and Indonesia. in Italy she explores pleasure, in India devotion, and in Indonesia (Bali to be specific) the combination of the two.

i found her writing really insightful and amusing, and would recommend this book.
