I wouldn't have expected it, but I'm finding runes to be easier to interact with than the Tarot. I love rich symbolism, archetypes, etc. and I'm an artist so I've always been attracted to the beautiful imagery of the Tarot. Runes just seemed more abstract and vague to me, but now that I'm getting more serious about them I find that they're easier for me to "communicate" with. You can look almost anywhere in nature - trees, rocks, plants, even man-made objects - and see runes in it. I'm very very much an amateur with both systems but I see Tarot as something that is very connected to the human mystical experience and Runes as something that comes from natural patterns, human or not. What's interesting is that so far I've been meditating on one specific rune and twice now I've seen Tarot-like images to help explain it. Maybe someday I could make a set of "Rune Tarot" cards?
As for my own set, I'm still waiting for a branch to make them. I don't want to actually cut a branch from a tree but I want my runes to be wood so I'm waiting for a branch to present itself.
