Women Who Run With the Wolves

I just recently started reading this book after hearing about it for so many years. I am just fascinated by it right now! Have any of you read it? What were your thoughts about it?

I just started the book also - I just finished the part with the Bluebeard story. Some parts really resonate with me so I take notes so I can reflect or mark the page somehow so I can go back and see what I connect with.

Happy reading.

Thanks Lotus, that's a really good idea. When I picked the book up I never imagined how much I'd get out of it. I'll do that also, take notes and make reminders of places that say something really heavy for me.

Love you.

I am also surprised at the strong feelings this book is bringing up for me. I think maybe I am responding not only for myself but my ancestors and theirs and so on.

Blessings,

i so love this book. when i first read it i thought how much i wouldve liked to read it as a teenager, and so i gave a copy to my daughter when she reached teenage years.

its sad how all the original wondrous informative stories have been warped into trashy disney-ised nothings.

i think i need to get myself another copy.

That's a great idea. My oldest daughter is 9 right now, but I am definitely going to keep that in mind in a few years. I ordered the book on tape now through the library, so when I am driving I can keep listening to the stories, or listen to parts over. I have other books I am reading too, so I am going kind of slow through it, but it's really heavy for me anyway, so I kind of prefer to go slow.

Waffle comming up :D
I bought a copy at the markets a while ago, thinking it looked like it would be worth reading, I never really got into then and put it away, a couple of weeks ago I was scratching around and found it again, this time I am absorbing so much, I read via the index, not really looking for anything in particular, just going where I am led, I have lost my red shoes and have been caught in a marriage full of lies and deceit for the last 12 years, I am in the process of breaking out of my cage and I am grateful that while I know that the path I am currently on isn't the best, in fact it is downright destructive, I can see there are other paths for me to take. I would love to join in a discussion, even though I'm not online very much anymore.

I ordered the tapes of the book through my library and picked them up yesterday. I was happy to find out that they aren't the book word for word, but are the author reading some of the stories, and commenting on them, but some different comments than are in the book. I have been driving around a lot, looking for a job and an apartment, so to listen to this at this very pivotal time in my life is just refreshing. I relate so much.
Now I understand why I need to do what I am doing, what I need to look out for, why I need to gather my bones, and do only what I hunger for. Wow.

I'm really glad that I found this thread! I've run into this book many times and never had the motivation to read it, but now that I hear how awesome it is I'll definitely go pick up a copy! Thank you!

Wow, I haven't posted anything on here in months, and ha ha, I am still reading it! I had lost touch with my mom for a while, and when I regained touch with her recently, I mentioned how much this book had helped me through in the past 6 months, and my mom said, "that book is my bible!" Wow!

Do you think this book is age appropriate for an intelligent 15 year old and a 17 year old young woman? (step sisters) Both who have been through he** and back with dysfunctional and oppresive adults (addicts and ultra materialistic parents) in thier lives and have been recently uprooted and removed from the situation? I have been thinking about giffting copies of it to them.

See my other thread in talking stick.

Peace,

It's funny you ask, because I was just thinking that I will probably let my oldest daughter read it when she turns 15. I guess it kind of depends on their maturity, though. Some of the stories are kind of scary, too, so it would depend on their sensivity. But, oh, I wish I would have read it at that age! It's so empowering and stregnthening.

i love this book, i read it while i was working in this humble nursing home, i would sneek away and read it slowly...it really brought unity to my motherhood and the folklore of the world...i'll have to read it again....this book is vital to women's awareness

Life/Death/Life cycle, i have learned so much from that, what should i give to death in order to spread life.....? i ask myself that....

I just bought a copy of this for my 18 yo niece, who has been looking for truths and meanings and not finding them. She joined a charismatic church for a couple of years, but found that lacking. Her parents worship Mamon, and she finds that lacking too. I think this might be what she's looking for.
