Or would lightly baking them in the oven also be a good idea? And at what temp and for how long?

Thinking since I'm in my early 40's I need to be more conscience of getting enough calcium...I've seen too many elderly women with the hunched shoulders of osteoporosis in my line of work...want to avoid that.

You could bake them at 180 degrees for 5 minutes but I don't think it would change anything where you are going to add the egg shell to vinegar.

I saw an eggshell and horsetail formula on David Winston's site
Herb-Cal (HCL)

Maintains Healthy Bone Structure* - Vinegar extract of organic eggshells, Oat milky seed, Horsetail aerial parts, Chamomile flower, Alfalfa aerial parts

I bake the egg shells at 275*. about 5 mins. just till they are dry and hot. I wash them with vinager first. It might be over kill but...I have kids I have to worrie about.
They won't remember what you said, or what you did, they will only remember how you made them feel.

Meesha, Saved some money and got the formula almost exact.

Suebee, I agree. I'm always washing my hands after touching meat or eggs. It's left over from when the kids were young and more vulnerable.

Ok after a very big deoderant making flop I have learned that mixing calcium carbonate (main component of egg shells) with vinegar yeilds Calcium acetate which has been investigated as a mutagen. Just thought I'd bump this topiic to share this.

Cory Su, way back in 2007 I had mentioned in my post the chemical change from calcium carbonate to calcium acetate. Can you explain more what you mean by "being studied as a mutagen"?
