Several years ago I wanted to get a copy of Healing Wise right then. I was really tuned in to the universe and my own Goddess energies, so I asked for help. Then I realized our Friends of the Library sale was that weekend. I went to it, walked to the herbal section, and put my hand on a table full of books to rest. When I looked down I saw a bit a green peeping out near the bottom of that stack. It was a virtually new copy of Healing Wise -- the only one in thousands of books on those tables. I looked for more to give friends, but alas, that was all. But I had one!

About the book, it is thoroughly informative, and tells so much through the eyes of a few herbs, and her introduction to making one's own herbal pharmacy is priceless for anyone who wants to begin working with herbs. I am not a novice, but I still learned a lot from this wonderful book. How she threads her understanding of the lives of plants, their energies, and all the things about herbs that go beyond the mere chemical, and how those energies are woven with ours, is just magical.

But always, I think Susan's most important contribution with this book and all that she does is to help women change the way they THINK about herbs. If we pop an herb just to cure a symptom with no more thought to nourishing body and spirit, we're not doing much different than the drug companies would have us do with their wares. Her model for thinking about healing traditions is sound, and her Seven Rivers of Healing is, in my opinion, the most sane approach to healilng I have ever known. (And I come from first a Medical - paramedic, and then a Heroic perspective).

I could ramble on forever, and still just dance around the topic. But I think Healing Wise is the book to help begin to shift the way we think about herbs. For me, it made that shift a way of lfe.

Welcome. If you like healing Wise, you might also want to check into Menopause Years - another gold mine of information, and an excellent follow up into the Wise Woman way of thinking. She looks at conditions our changing bodies experience in Menopause in terms of the 7 steps of healing, and it really gets you used to thinking in that way.

Best Wishes!

I started drinking nettle
infusions ... feel unbelievably
healthy and have lots of energy and strength to play with my toddler
all day. This in just one month! Also, you should see my hair - it
is so shiny and thick. Discovering nettles and the wise woman way was
almost an accident (I found Susun's book on my bookshelf and just
started reading it one day) and it ended up changing my life.

This is a great book. I have several of Susun's books and I receive her newsletter as well. Years ago I grew a lot of herbs...now only a few...and I made tintures, salves, bouquets, and sometimes just ate them!
I've never been to her farm or taken her classes but she has a lot of knowledge.
We have something in common if you are a fan of Susun's!
showering you with blessings...

Please include me for receipt of your newsletter. While I have "played" with herbal remedies for decades off and on, I finally am taking a class to learn more about them and engage in the proper preparations, etc. A friend of mine gave me your book, Wise Woman Herbal Healing Wise...I loved it...then about 2 weeks later my herbal teacher gave me a CD with an interview of yours....awesome. Keep up with your love of "weeds" We have all learned much from you.

…I am loving the Healing Wise book and can't wait to get more books and videos. I badly want the Juliette de Bairacli Levy book. I used her book for children when my kids were young. They are now 23 1/2, 27 and 30! I really want to become a Wise Woman and Herbal Healer in my crone years and beyond (I will be 53 in April) and plan to take all of Susun's courses, one by one, if it takes me a decade to do it. I really appreciate the payment plan because I am disabled and money is terribly tight.

Hello,

I recently read Ms. Weed's Book "Healing Wise" and it inspired me to integrate many of her recommendations into my own life. …

Thank you,

Hi Susun:

My name is Johanna and my nutritionist has turned me on to herbal infusion teas. I can't believe I've lived without them for so long! What largely sold me was an excerpt from your book "Healing Wise" as well as a chart that Rose Barlow put together called the "Nutritional Analysis of Wild Foods…

Hi Susun,

I have followed your teachings for a few years now and still trying. I will launch a webpage soon hopefully for inspiration to others and would like to link to yours with your permission? I love your new formats.

I am in the process of reversing my own disease since 2003. Moving forward started with reading Healing Wise passed to me from a friend and learning and using those herbs. I really appreciate learning from you how to make it all taste its very best.
