i just finished reading this book about a week ago. so it took me about seven months on and off, and it has helped me bring about dramatic change in my life. i enjoyed reading parts aloud with a friend, but also enjoyed reading alone to really let it all sink in and spend time pondering it.
i also found it empowering to physically respond to passages that called to me - by getting up and moving around, feeling my energy, or by creating something, drawing, painting, etc. physical manifestations of the lessons i gathered from the book have been great reminders and very encouraging to me.
i'll be living with my mother for a few months this winter, and she hasn't read it yet, but has heard many good things. i'm hoping we can read aloud together, as she and i have always shared a passion for books.
the handmade red shoes story Really grabbed me - my current journey has me only a few months away from moving back to land that i love, where i will literally build my life by hand (build a home from earth, garden, harvest rain and compost my waste, etc)
in response to the story of vasalisa the wise i created an intuition doll that i keep near me every night as a reminder.
this book is so fertile with ideas and paths toward healing and strength. i am excited to start reading it a second time.
