reiki?

Postby sister sunshine » Sat May 16, 2009 5:46 pm

I think it is time for me to get some training. I've been on the receiving end of reiki and other sorts of energetic healing and now I think that I need some more. But I also think I need to up my skill/knowledge/practice in the energy world.

Reiki scares me only because there seems to be some heavy man-made political issues about who's reiki is better reiki or the real reiki or the more powerful reiki, etc. So this has kept me away up until now--put in the too hard basket.

I read most the posts touching on reiki here and CW's concern about other people putting stuff on her aura, and the concerns me to. It seems a lot of my healing work is getting other people's stuff off my aura and the rest of me too. I don't want to be picking up on some new other people stuff! no new sankharas.

what to do?? :?

dear sister,
I say this as a reiki master: all concerns about other people putting stuff on your aura can be put aside. There are some people who have been taught, erroneously, that reiki must flow through and 'heal' the practitioner before it can get to the recipient, implying some kind of imprint from the practitioner. This is not true.

Reiki is simply universal life energy -and the practitioner is simply a 'director', telling it where it needs to go. The practitioner does not manufacture the energy, nor does the eergy have to be filtered through the practitioner.

rest easy in your mind.

Blessings,
Kelly

Hi sister,
No, reiki is reiki. The flavours are just like ethnicities - one person's expression of the Source.

Hi , i am also a reiki master. In my case i chose the teacher and not the kind of reiki. I was drawn to her, for my 3 first levels (usui) then chose a different teacher for my masters (tibetan) just because... i fallowed my heart.

thanks and thanks.
The ethnicity analogy makes sense and, being human, sometimes instead of celebrating diversity, they must argue about who's is better.

I agree with the above! I too am a Reiki Master. However, I was really troubled by the Politics that some people have over what is better over the other. Just follow your heart. Do what works best for you. In the end, it is all Universal Life Energy, regardless of how it comes through.

After my attunement, I thought that my physical body would be healed and that I would gain strength to heal myself and others. Instead Reiki sent my body on an emotional journey of confusion, anger, sadness, resolution, love, and knowing. My body rejected something about the attunement process, my ego was wanting to be heard and known so I experienced emotional flash backs and trauma related anxiety during the reiki attunement process. I felt inadequate and injured as a healer, I felt scared and alone. My experience was beautiful but left me confused about my own feminine intuitive abilities, was I broken because I didn’t feel or see?

After the class I went to the river bed by the red rocks and sat in between the sediment and trees, there in that space, my body accepted my own path to healing, listening to the trees breath, my body experienced sight and stillness, the visions of trauma subsided and the earth told me to let go, trust, and be okay with confusion. I wanted something, some power outside of myself to heal me, I wanted an answer to my emotional issues, I wanted to feel alive.

I love the wisdom in what you said. ! :)

Sister Sunshine,

If in your heart you feel that you want/need to learn Reiki don't let your fears hold you back. You will learn techniques to avoid getting anything negative. The most important thing to remember is to always ground and rake.

When I last posted here I was taking my Reiki I class (March), now this weekend I am going to take my Reiki II class. I feel confident in my teacher, however, the politics in the world of Reiki are quite notable and it's sad as you have all mentioned.

Think on it Sister and shop around for the teacher that fits what you want to be as far as a Reiki Worker.

Blessings,

Morgana

Yeah, I reckon find a teacher you feel comfortable with.

So, is reiki different from all other healing forms? Because in my experience all forms of energy healing are affected by the consciousness of the person doing the healing. Healers who think their healing is immune from that are dangerous IMO. It's safer to acknowledge one's limitations.
It's all good (except for the crappy bits).

You sound afraid? I'd suggest doing a prayer/ritual/whatever -- put your intention out there to find a teacher/journey that is right for you.

Re different types of reiki... Different styles may teach different techniques and approaches/philosophies. However they get there, they'll probably all claim the original "source". I've heard many practitioners say that reiki is only that if you are connected by the energy lineage (ie your teacher's teacher's teacher's...teacher was the man Usui); and there are probably others who think of reiki more as the technique/system. In any case, as has been suggested, you could make a start with something that feels good; then once you know more, you can always change teachers or styles.

I agree with SK, that all forms of energy healing are affected by the consciousness of the giver. However, in reiki it is generally taught that you are connecting to some universal energy and it's all-good and you are just a channel for the energy -- I personally have questions about that and suspect it's not that simple :) (I'm a reiki "master" too.)
