Inducing Questions

First let me say AWESOME site!!!!

Im almost 40 weeks and have been dialted to 1cm for 2 weeks now. Is there anything I can do to aid this process? This is my 3rd child, the other two i dilated quickly.

1. I read to try nipple stimulation, I have read to massage 1 side for 20 mins then the other, and also have read 2mins of massage 3 mins rest for 20 mins every hour.
2. Acupressure, In the webbing of your thumb and pointer finger, but no sure how long to keep the pressure on or how offen.
3.Switching from a cold shower to a hotter shower was one i saw to get contractions going? Unsure of facts of this one though?

After reading things on different sites i went and got

Black Cohosh
80 mg capsules
Standardized 2.5%extract with Licorice and Dong Quai the only thing they had)

using Black Cohosh to Induce. How many a day did you take?
Bottle says 2 times a day? wasnt sure

I also got Yogi Tea Raspberry Ginger Tea, how often would you say to drink this.

I took on of the Black Cohosh early today, but havent taken anymore yet.
I did send one email out and was told i got the wrong one, should have gotten Blue Cohosh...? now im lost lol
Any ideas or thoughts greatly thanked

By the way Thanks for all the AWESOME info onyour site!
Thanks

Welcome, Barbi!

I may be butting in here where I shouldn't, so please forgive me, but is there any special reason why things should be sped along? :) From my own knowlege, outcomes seem better when our bodies are left alone, to do what they need to do. Remember, the herbs you mentioned are not nutritive herbs, they are medicinals, and are very serious. I would only use them if absolutely necessary.

I have four children, and each time, I spent at least a month dialated to three centimeters. I think this is quite normal, especially in later pregnancies.

From what you say, there is no reason to suspect that your babe is in trouble, and you are in good health. Have you thought about giving yourself a good two weeks before you do anything?? :)

Much love & good energies to you!

wow exiting! That last little bit is such a thrill! I totally agree with greenlee, it sounds like your body is just getting ready, and the little one is probably getting ready as well. Drink lots of your raspberry Infusion, eat light but don't get hungry, and rest. If your water breaks I've been told that infection is more likley to occur after 24 hrs. if there has been an internal exam. And the without the exam women are ''o.k'' a lot longer, but no time specifically. Echinacea is good at this time if you are worried about infection. I wouldn't worry about inducing just yet.Eat foods high in vit.C as well, these with help with extra energy and added protection against any bacteria or such things. You will probably just kick into high gear once it starts regularly and will be snuggling up with that little one in no time!!!Love,Sarah

Sister- have you read the induction thread??? It would benefit you to do so.
I would not really be so worried about infection unless your membranes have ruptured. Do you have a midwife?
From what you have shared it seems that you are doing just wonderfully, slowly dilating. Just relax and enjoy this last bit of time being pregnant. Sleep, eat, walk, bathe, drink nourishing herbal infusions...here is a link to learn more: http://www.susunweed.com/How_to_make_Infusions.htm

Blessed birthing dear one.
