for me, seaweed is the ultimate nourishing food...I can eat it anyway at all...in a miso soup, as a salad, sauteed with vegetables, all alone, as nori sheets at my desk, from a shaker at the table as a condiment...just give me seaweed and I feel nourished!! I rather feel the same way about anything vinegared too...

There's a house that we rent up on the northern Sonoma coast (we're scheduled for a few days mid-August [:)]). Just being in that setting, in THAT house (fireplace and hot-tub...house in the middle of a meadow...bedroom window w/ a view of the ocean...woods just beyond the meadow) is nourishing to me. In fact, just THINKING about what it's like to be there, and walk the trails, and build the fire, and soak in the tub, makes me feel nourished!! Oh yes...it's very quiet too!!

Yup, that's what I'm TALKING about.
In another thread, where we've been talking about HOW we can 'stop and smell the roses', I brought up just what Therese has pointed out...how the mere MEMORY of something that wonderful in and of itself can be truly NOURISHING.

One point I failed to bring up in the article was the idea of what we see out our WINDOWS that can be nourishing (or not). When I lived on Main St in Beacon, NOTHING I saw out my windows was nourishing. It got even worse when CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT was out every window as they tore up a vacant lot to make a proper parking lot. Where I am now, I live behind a plum tree. My bird feeder hangs FROM my windowframe, so it's nearly safe from squirrels and every sweet, gentle, feathered visitor is such a JOY.

Perhaps NOURISHMENT is merely blessings we choose to TAKE IN.

I think that the most nourishing experience I am blessed to have daily is breast feeding. The feeling of my babes soft skin against mine and the love in his eyes is the most soul nourishing meal I have ever experienced.

being winter, its a good time to discuss nourishment again...of course any excuse will do...

for me...nourishment is in spending quiet time with loved ones, alone in nature, cooking and sharing a meal with others, getting enough high-quality sleep, and luxuriating in a bubble bath...to name a few...

I loved the article, it was nourishing to me.
Lady B, along with music (especially playing it yourself), DANCE is nourishing!!! Recently, while dancing, I got to thinking about how when you dance, you receive three (probably more) benefits: arousal and release, fitness and also stimulation of nerve endings (particularly on the feet)
Dancing barefoot is like giving yourself a foot message!
cell by cell, you replace yourself. thought by thought, you create yourself. dream by dream, you envision the universe.-Susun Weed

Aha! I have to agree! Dancing is supreme nourishment for the soul! Some of my most nourishing memories involve spontaneous dance!
I also find a peaceful toke on the pipe to be quite nourishing too, any time of day.
Cloud gazing, star gazing, day dreaming, camp fires, warm blankets, hot baths, herbal oils, and delicious foods are all extremely exciting to me as well! Let's not forget the good ol' orgasm either!
OH! And of course, hugging the dog, and petting the cat! Caring for nature, and uniting with earth energy fills me with fire! Making new herbal allies, and remembering the old (knowing there is still so much more to learn...)
And the list goes on...
Nourish yourself with love my friends!

Although my youngest child is now 21 so it's a looooooooooong time since I did this I have to agree that there was some mutual nourishment going on there :D
I used to greet every pound my babies gained with a tremendous feeling of " Hey I did that - my body did that :D "
And though sometimes it felt like my babies had taken root under my sweater  I look at them today as lovely, grown young men and love every nourishing minute
